My Purpose
Hello,
My name is Max and I will be using this space to discuss my ideas for the crypto and NFT industries as well as other aspects of cryptocurrencies and decentralized technology that interest me. I am very passionate about the creator space within the ecosystem. Artists, musicians, filmmakers, architects, designers, and any other type of creator deserve to have full control over their work and craft. Emerging and existing crypto technologies allow creators to succeed and grow through their own decisions by allowing communities and fans to directly interact and invest in artists directly. Whether it be social and community tokens, partitioned NFTs, or anything else, the power is redirected from exclusive and controlling groups and given back to the creator.
Decentralization allows for people to engage and invest at any level through partial ownership and differing interaction opportunities. In the past, investing in a painter requires an abundance of wealth, connections, and most of the time some form of elitism. Now, showing love and support for an artist can be done peer-to-peer through public crypto marketplaces and environments. Platforms like Audius allow for a high level of fan communication with musicians that benefit both fans and musicians significantly more than the current record label model. Digital galleries like OpenSea and Nifty Gateway require only a connected wallet for fans and investors to purchase art and learn about artists. Furthermore, the ecosystem is transparent and immutable! This means participants can easily track ownership and creation of all forms of art and can allow common people to become collectors and contributors by displaying (on Lazy) and building new projects and creations.
Currently, the cryptocurrency environment is very focused on finance. Lending, borrowing, staking, yield farming, and the rest of DeFi have cannibalized other opportunities and paths in crypto but have introduced countless newbies to the power and possibilities of decentralization. This is great for the growth of crypto but I believe that a better way to grow crypto is through creator engagement and usage with NFTs. In the real world, you would be hard-pressed to find people off Wall Street with quick and thorough knowledge of lending rates, financial laws, and other facets of the economy so why do we expect newcomers to crypto to latch on and understand the intricacies of DeFi as their introduction to crypto. Being a fan and following a creator’s work is already a passion for the mainstream so how could we not love more opportunities to engage with our role models and favorite musicians, filmmakers, artists, designers, sculptors, bloggers, vloggers, athletes, influencers, and more.
